Position: Student Engagement Officer
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Pay: £13.50–£15.50 per hour, depending on experience
Are you passionate about helping young people feel engaged, supported and ready to learn? Bouncing Statistics is looking for an empathetic, proactive Student Engagement Officer to join our team.
You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, stay focused and make positive progress in their education. Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide practical day-to-day support that helps every student participate, learn and thrive.
What you’ll do
- Monitor students’ academic, personal and engagement progress against agreed goals.
- Encourage positive participation, focus and respectful behaviour during lessons.
- Support students to understand tasks, remain on track and develop independence.
- Facilitate structured breaks that promote wellbeing and a productive learning day.
- Write clear, accurate student progress reports and contribute to termly reports for teaching staff, parents and carers.
- Share relevant progress updates with teaching staff and, where appropriate, parents or carers.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and colleagues to meet individual student needs.
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school, alternative provision, tutoring or youth-work setting.
- GCSEs, including English and maths.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships.
- Good written communication and report-writing skills.
- Patience, empathy and sound judgement.
- A calm, consistent approach to supporting behaviour and engagement.
- The ability to work well as part of a collaborative team.
- A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
Youth-work experience, safeguarding training, or experience supporting learners with additional needs would be an advantage, but we welcome applicants with the right attitude and transferable experience.
