Job Title: Buyer
Department: Purchasing
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
Job Purpose
To take ownership within the purchasing team of planning, placing PO's, and expediting goods and services required by the business. The Buyer will also be instrumental in supplier management, cost negotiation, and inventory availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Process & expedite purchase orders accurately and efficiently
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve shortages, delays, quality issues, and invoice queries.
- Expedite outstanding purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor supplier performance, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Initiate supplier negotiations for pricing, delivery, and service levels.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels
- Produce purchasing reports using Excel
- Maintain supplier and product information within procurement systems
- Work closely with internal departments to support other business functions
- Identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist with sourcing & developing new suppliers
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a purchasing role ideally within manufacturing
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and procurement processes (Business Central is an advantage)
