About the Role
We are looking for a competent, enthusiastic, and reliable GCSE English Tutor to join our team and provide high-quality tuition to GCSE students at Oaks Park High School every Saturday and Sunday.
The successful candidate will be passionate about English and committed to helping students improve their knowledge, confidence, and exam performance. You will be expected to plan and deliver engaging lessons that are tailored to the needs and abilities of the students.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality GCSE English lessons to students.
- Support students in developing their reading, writing, comprehension, and analytical skills.
- Prepare students for GCSE English Language and/or English Literature examinations.
- Plan engaging and structured lessons based on the GCSE curriculum.
- Identify individual students' strengths and areas for improvement.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students make progress.
- Develop students' confidence and exam techniques.
- Maintain a positive, supportive, and professional learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and communicate any concerns or developments where appropriate.
- Ensure lessons are well-prepared, organised, and engaging.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum.
- Have previous experience tutoring or teaching GCSE English.
- Be confident working with secondary school students.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be enthusiastic, patient, and able to motivate students.
- Be reliable and committed to working every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
- Have a professional approach and strong classroom management skills.
- Be able to adapt teaching methods to suit different students' abilities and learning needs.
- Hold or be willing to undergo the appropriate DBS/background checks required to work with young people.
