Our dog & cat grooming salon as been established for over 8 years. Pet Parlour is a busy modern salon in North Lane Rustington with top of the range equipment and existing client base.
We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and hard working dog groomer/s to join our team. (Ideally covering up to 4 days per week and 1-2 weekend days per month but this is flexible. Job share options to work alternative days of the week with potential for additional shifts.
*** we also have self employed options available for Monday, Friday, Sat & Sunday*** this can be alongside the above shifts to build your own customer base / small business. Please ask for details.
You must be confident in grooming all breeds of dogs from start to finish on your own with proven experience. This includes coat prep, bathing, drying including fluff drying, clipping, scissoring, and possibly hand-stripping (but not essential). Confidence in handling puppies and nervous dogs, in a calm, positive manner is also required.
Successful applicants will be expected to liase with customers in person and via the telephone, complete administrative tasks including repeat bookings, and maintain salon cleanliness.
Online bookings, voicemails and web / social media enquiries are actioned by administration staff (off site) but you will be expected to rebook appointments for customers face to face and over the phone in between appointments.
Experience requirements:
- Experience grooming dogs is essential (cat grooming experience is an advantage but not necessary and training will be given if interested).
- Relevant grooming qualifications to Level 3 are advantageous, but not essential.
- Dog grooming salon experience is essential with at least 1-2 years of salon grooming experience preferable.
- Basic administrative skills required (telephony, appointment handling, customer service etc.)
Fully equipped salon, all grooming equipment is provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for ensuring high standards with attention to detail of grooming within safe environment to company standards.
- Dog Safety & Welfare: of each pet in your care, to ensure from start to finish their needs are fulfilled. Priority of the pet first and foremost.
- You will have the knowledge to carry out basic health checks, identify parasites and signs of infection, bath, dry and style all dogs to ‘breed standard’ or customer specification.
- Customer facing - Presentable, approachable friendly manner with excellent customer service skills: ability to recommend and advise pet owner according to coat type, history, temperament and age. Advise on coat care / home maintenance and frequency of booking.
- Cleaning duties are completed and all equipment is maintained as per check lists.
- Supporting other team members of team to ensure the salon is running efficiently.
- Treatment room – keeping your room clean at the end of each shift and share remaining cleaning tasks.
- Appointment notes - updating cards & online database
- Upselling services and retail relevant to customer to increase profitability for the business whilst offering improved services to benefit the dogs / cats.

This is a permanent part-time position with potential for additional hours. After an initial probationary period access to the company contribution pension will be granted.
