Salary: £28,000–£33,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 37 hours per week, permanent
Location: Hybrid, normally including 2–3 days per week at our Chester office, with travel across Cheshire, Halton and North East Wales
Responsible to: Head of Fundraising
About the role
Vision Support is a long-established charity supporting people living with sight loss across Cheshire, Halton and North East Wales. As we celebrate our 150th anniversary, we are entering an exciting period of growth and development.
We are looking for an organised, relationship-focused person to help us provide an excellent experience for our donors and supporters.
Working closely with our Head of Fundraising and Fundraiser, you will help develop the systems, processes and supporter journeys that underpin successful fundraising. You will coordinate donor communications and fundraising activities, maintain accurate records, support events and corporate relationships, and help identify new income opportunities.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys building relationships, organising activity and finding better ways of working. You do not need to have experience in every area of fundraising, but you should bring relevant experience from fundraising, business development, partnerships or another relationship-focused role.
What you will be doing
- Building positive relationships with individual, corporate and community supporters.
- Coordinating personalised thank-you communications and regular updates that demonstrate the impact of donations.
- Maintaining accurate records of donors, prospects and fundraising activity.
- Helping develop our fundraising database and supporting the introduction of a dedicated CRM.
- Producing clear pipeline, income and activity reports.
- Researching prospective supporters, corporate partners, major donors, trusts and foundations.
- Supporting fundraising applications, sponsorship proposals, campaigns and appeals.
- Coordinating fundraising events, including logistics and supporter communications.
- Working with colleagues, volunteers and external partners to deliver fundraising activity.
- Helping improve our fundraising processes and supporter experience.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in fundraising, business development, partnerships, account management or relationship management.
- Strong organisational skills and experience managing different priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and producing clear information or reports.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and good attention to detail.
- The ability to travel reliably throughout our operating area, with reasonable adjustments where required.
Experience in charity fundraising, donor stewardship, CRM systems, corporate partnerships or fundraising events would be helpful, but it is not essential.
Working arrangements and travel
This is a hybrid role, normally including 2–3 days per week at our Chester office. Local and regional travel will be required for meetings, community activities and fundraising events.
There may occasionally be a need to attend a planned evening or weekend event. This is not regular weekend working and advance notice will be provided wherever possible. Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided for agreed additional hours worked.
Some locations or events may not be easily accessible by public transport. Applicants must therefore be able to travel reliably and independently to fulfil the requirements of the role. Business mileage will be reimbursed at 55p per mile from an agreed base.
Vision Support welcomes applications from disabled people and will consider reasonable adjustments, including support available through Access to Work.
What we offer
- 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 32 days after five years’ service.
- A pension scheme, subject to eligibility.
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
- An Employee Assistance Programme, including access to 24/7 counselling.
- Access to a mentor or mentee scheme.
- A comprehensive induction and vision impairment awareness training.
- Opportunities for professional development and training.
- Regular team-building activities and social events.
- Free on-site parking.
- The opportunity to help shape a growing fundraising function and make a genuine difference to people affected by sight loss.
