This is a self-employed, task-based driving opportunity designed for owner drivers who own an electric car. Candidates will use their own electric vehicle to complete flexible service blocks, with weekly payments and full training provided. No previous micro mobility experience is required.
The Role – Electric Car Driver: Battery Swaps
We are looking for reliable, responsible and safety-conscious drivers to support a major shared e-bike and e-scooter operation across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
This is not parcel delivery.
You will use a mobile app to locate shared e-bikes and e-scooters requiring a battery change. You will replace depleted batteries with fully charged batteries and return the depleted batteries to the designated operating base.
Most work is available during evenings, nights and early mornings.
Battery-Swap Service Fee
- £2.00 + 20% VAT = £2.40 INC VAT per verified completed battery-swap task
Average Full-Day Earnings
Based on completing approximately 60–80 battery swaps during a productive full-day service block:
- £120–£160 + 20% VAT = £144–£192 INC VAT per day
- Higher earnings may be achievable when additional task volume is available
- Payments are made weekly following task verification
Earnings are based on the number of tasks correctly completed and verified through the operational app.

Requirements for the Driver
- You must own an electric car
- Right to work in the UK
- Registered or able to register as self-employed
- UTR or registered business status before starting
- Smartphone with reliable mobile data, GPS and location services
- Comfortable using mobile apps and navigation systems
- Able to safely handle battery cases
- Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions
- Available for evening, night or early-morning work
- Able to pass the required identity, driving-licence and background checks
- Reliable, punctual and confident working independently
Pay: £120.00-£160.00 per day
