Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently transport materials, equipment, and finished goods between company locations, suppliers, and customers. The Driver is responsible for ensuring loads are secured correctly, deliveries are completed on time, and company vehicles are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out deliveries and collections in accordance with planned schedules.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
- Obtain delivery signatures and maintain accurate delivery records.
- Communicate any delivery delays or issues to the Logistics Manager promptly.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects immediately.
- Ensure the vehicle is maintained in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition.
- Monitor fuel usage and vehicle performance.
- Operate lifting and securing equipment safely and correctly.
- Comply with all road traffic legislation and company driving policies.
- Ensure all loads are secured in accordance with legal and company requirements.
- Follow manual handling procedures and safe systems of work.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Assist with warehouse, packing, and logistics activities when required.
- Support stock movements between manufacturing sites.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Full UK driving licence with a clean or acceptable driving record (C1 License desirable but not required).
- Previous experience driving commercial vans or flatbed vehicles.
- Knowledge of load restraint and safe transportation practices.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling activities.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) license required
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Knowledge of vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.
- Driver CPC qualification (desirable)
