The Brief
We are compiling a team of experts to support an undergraduate student in the U.K. looking to build on his skillset ahead of joining the family business. The goal is to prepare the student for leadership and to provide him with skills alongside his studies that will enable him to enter the world of work with confidence and to make valuable contributions. We welcome conversations with experts in one or multiple of the fields listed and will likely expand beyond these parameters as the student develops further understanding of each area and where his passion/aptitude lies.
This programme is intended to foster intellectual curiosity, strategic thinking, and a nuanced understanding of how technology is shaping the future of business and leadership through artificial intelligence, technological disruption, and innovation strategy. This is not a technical coding or software engineering role. Instead, we are seeking an expert capable of helping a future business leader understand how AI is reshaping industries, organisations, leadership, decision-making, and competitive advantage.
The Ideal Candidate
This should be an exceptional AI and emerging technology specialist, responsible for delivering a bespoke masterclass programme for a high-achieving undergraduate student intending to pursue a career in business leadership.
The successful candidate will combine deep expertise in AI with strong commercial acumen and the ability to communicate complex concepts to a highly intelligent, non-technical audience.
The ideal mentor will demonstrate:
- A strong understanding of current AI capabilities and limitations, as well as awareness of likely future developments over the next 1–3 years.
- A commercial perspective, including experience applying AI in real-world environments and a strong understanding of organisational change and technology adoption, and how this can affect business outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to teach complex topics to non-specialists and adapt material to the student's interests and focuses.
Programme Objectives
This programme is looking to move beyond AI tool proficiency, encouraging the student to develop a genuine understanding of how emerging technologies are transforming business and society.
By the conclusion of the masterclass programme, the student should have:
- A clear and sophisticated understanding of the current AI landscape, including but not limited to:
- Frontier AI models
- Generative AI
- Agentic AI systems
- Automation and workflow orchestration
- Data strategy and infrastructure
- AI regulation and governance
- Emerging technology trends
- Critical evaluation skills for ascertaining which AI opportunities are genuinely transformative, how organisations gain competitive advantage through AI, and the risks associated with AI adoption.
- Enhanced commercial awareness of how AI is being applied across sectors, including:
- Finance and investment
- Professional services
- Consumer businesses
- Luxury and hospitality
- Real estate
- Entrepreneurship and venture capital
Proposed Structure
The structure will be developed collaboratively, with 6-week sprints of masterclasses, and an additional 2 weeks for embedding and demonstrating learning. These could include short research or development tasks between masterclass sprints to encourage independent review and ensure that the programme follows a student-led, value-adding pathway.
Please ensure you answer all of the screening questions, as applications submitted without responses will not be considered.
Pay: £50.00-£150.00 per hour
Application question(s):
- Can you tell us about your experience applying AI or emerging technologies in a commercial environment?
- This programme is designed for a highly intelligent undergraduate with aspirations of becoming a business leader, rather than a technical AI specialist. How would you explain a complex AI concept, such as generative AI, agentic AI, or AI governance, to a non-technical audience?
- If you were designing the first six weeks of this masterclass programme, what topics would you prioritise and why?
