Kennedys, a global law firm with offices throughout the US, seeks a full-time Paralegal with 5+ years of solid insurance litigation experience related to NY law to join our team in our New York City Office. This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious paralegal to join a growing, global law firm.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to review/analyze and summarize medical records and add relevant dates/information to the medical chronology
Prepare answers to Discovery with client contact
Prepare discovery motions (Motions to Extend Discovery, Motion to Compel Discovery and Motion Dismiss Complaint for Plaintiff's Failure to Provide Discovery)
Experience reviewing Plaintiff's Answers to Interrogatories
Schedule and coordinate IME's for plaintiff
Research (Westlaw preferred) and other online sources
Assist in retention of experts with experience in dealing with outside vendors
Prepare HIPPA Authorization Forms for Plaintiff's execution and return
Retrieval of medical records from providers and Third-Party vendors
Follow-up with providers to ensure receipt of records of HIPPA request
Perform Jury Verdict Searches using Westlaw
Preparation of appeals, motions and privilege logs
Production of documents
Shepardizing [blue booking] cases
Our ideal candidate should have
5+ years of relevant experience [Insurance Defense Litigation]
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Thorough working knowledge of and experience working the Federal and New York court system
Experience drafting and entering time entries
Experience with Westlaw
Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred or relevant years of experience.
The annualized salary range for this role is $75,000-$90,000. However, this is contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
