Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate basketball coach to lead one of our National League teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching to players during two weekly training sessions and managing the team during weekend fixtures. The role involves developing individual player skills, fostering team cohesion, and maintaining a positive and competitive environment that aligns with the club’s development pathway.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver two structured, high-intensity training sessions per week, focusing on skill development, team concepts, and game preparation.
- Coach and manage the team during weekly National League games, typically held on weekends.
- Work collaboratively with the coaching team to ensure consistent teaching across age groups and squads.
- Provide players with constructive feedback, both individually and collectively, to aid their development.
- Ensure safe and inclusive training environments, with consideration for safeguarding and wellbeing.
- Communicate effectively with parents and players about training, matches, expectations, and progress.
- Support player attendance, discipline, and commitment, promoting a high-performance culture.
- Assist with basic administrative duties, such as completing game sheets, arranging logistics, and reporting results.
- Represent the club positively at all times and uphold its values and code of conduct.
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 2 Basketball Coaching Qualification (or working towards it).
- Experience coaching youth basketball, preferably in a National League setting.
- Strong knowledge of technical and tactical aspects of the game.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop young athletes.
- Availability for weekday evening training sessions and weekend games.
- Valid DBS check and up-to-date safeguarding and first aid training (or willingness to obtain).
