The Role
We're looking for a Junior CAD Technician to join our team. This is an entry-level role, and no prior experience is required, what matters most to us is attitude. In our experience, the people who go furthest aren't the ones who talk a big game; they're the ones who show up keen, put in the effort, and prove what they can do through the work itself.
You'll learn AutoCAD from the ground up, working under the guidance of our CAD manager to produce construction-level drawings used on live projects. You'll be given the time and support to learn properly and to get comfortable with our standards and systems.
Where It Can Lead
This is a genuine starting point, not a dead end. From here, people at QuinnRoss have gone on to:
- Master CAD and become one of our most capable technicians, trusted with complex drawings
- Move into Revit, creating and modifying 3D coordinated building services models
- Move into another part of the business, such as building services engineering
All three routes have been taken before. Where you end up is ultimately down to you, your effort, your interests, and what you want to do. Progression comes with time and business needs, so while there are no guarantees, there's real opportunity for those who earn it.
Who It Would Suit
This role would suit someone looking to move from site into office-based work, or a school leaver wanting to start a career in the construction / building services industry. If you're hardworking and genuinely willing to put in the effort to succeed, we want to hear from you.
What We're Looking For
- Good computer skills
- A keen desire to learn
- Good communication skills
- Confidence to ask for help when you need it
- A good eye for detail
- Good organisation and time management
- The ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- Ambition and drive
AutoCAD or Revit experience isn't required, but would be an advantage.
Above all, we're looking for the right attitude. Skills can be taught, but eagerness, a genuine desire to learn, and the willingness to put in the effort are what really make someone stand out here.
Salary
The starting salary matches the National Living Wage (for those aged 21 and over) or the National Minimum Wage (for those below that, at least of school leaving age). We reward staff who exceed expectations and review salaries as you progress, alongside end-of-year performance-related reviews.
Benefits
We look after our team. Alongside a company pension and 23 days' annual leave, you'll enjoy a casual dress code and a cycle to work scheme. We also offer flexible working: pick your hours anywhere from 08:00 to 16:30, through to 10:00 to 18:30, in half-hour blocks, and adjust them monthly to suit your life. Throughout the year we bring in food trucks for the office, all on us, and we also put on an all-expenses-paid summer activity and meal, plus the same again at Christmas.
How to Apply
Please include a cover letter explaining why you would like to be considered for this role and why you think you'd be a good fit for this role. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered, we read every appplication, and it's how we know you've read this too.
We're excited to hear from you and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us direct.
