Bakery Production Assistant & Relief Delivery Driver
Full-time | Permanent | Monday–Friday | Approx. 45 hours per week
Wilsons (Crossgates) Ltd is a long-established, family-run bakery and butchers, and we’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Bakery Production Assistant & Relief Delivery Driver to join our production team at our semi-automated bakery in Garforth, LS25 2JY.
This is primarily a bakery production role, working as part of our team to produce, pack and prepare our range of bakery products in volume.
The successful applicant will also provide holiday and sickness cover for our regular delivery driver, transporting products from our Garforth production bakery to our shops and other Wilsons premises using a company van.
Previous bakery or food-production experience is not essential, as full training can be provided. We’re looking for someone dependable, practical and willing to get stuck in as part of a busy team.
Bakery & Production Responsibilities – Main Role
The majority of your working week will be based at our Garforth production bakery. Duties will include:
- Assisting with the production of our bakery products in a high-volume, semi-automated environment
- Operating and assisting with bakery machinery and production equipment
- Preparing, handling and packing products throughout the production process
- Working efficiently as part of a small production team to meet daily production requirements
- Preparing and organising completed products for freezing, storage and distribution
- Ensuring correct stock rotation
- Following food hygiene, HACCP and health & safety procedures
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the production bakery
- Cleaning equipment and work areas as required
- Carrying out some lifting and manual handling
- Assisting with other general bakery and production duties as required
Relief Delivery Driver Responsibilities – Holiday & Sickness Cover
When our regular delivery driver is unavailable due to holidays or sickness, you will be required to provide cover for the delivery role. Duties will include:
- Driving a company van from our Garforth production bakery
- Delivering products to our shops and other Wilsons premises
- Loading and unloading the company van safely and efficiently
- Ensuring the correct products and quantities are delivered to each location
- Following the established delivery route and schedule
- Handling products appropriately during loading, transportation and delivery
- Carrying out appropriate vehicle checks and maintaining the cleanliness of the van
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a full, clean UK driving licence
- Is happy to work primarily within our production bakery, while providing delivery cover when required
- Is reliable, punctual and well organised
- Works well as part of a small production team
- Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Can work efficiently in a busy, high-volume food-production environment
- Is comfortable with lifting and manual handling
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
Previous bakery, food-production or manufacturing experience would be an advantage, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Hours & Location
This is a full-time, permanent position, working approximately 45 hours over 5 days, Monday to Friday.
Location: Wilsons Pies Production Bakery, Garforth, LS25 2JYSchedule: Monday to Friday – no regular weekend working
