Role summary
We’re looking for an organised and enthusiastic Junior Product Developer to join our growing Product/Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a Fashion, Textile, Design or garment technology background who is looking to build a career within apparel industry.
You’ll support the development of products from concept through to production, working closely with Design, Sourcing, Technical, Quality and our manufacturing partners to ensure products are delivered on time, to specification and to the highest quality. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, takes pride in their organisation and wants to build a long-term career as a product developer.
Responsibilities and requirements of role
Whilst no job description will ever completely list all aspects of the role, the following notes give guidance: (All ORN sites of operation within the UK)
- Support the product development process from design handover through to bulk production.
- Assist with maintaining the development critical path and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Prepare and maintain product specifications, colour standards and development documents.
- Coordinate lab dips, fabric approvals, trim developments and sample tracking.
- Assist with fabric and trim sourcing.
- Organise and maintain sample libraries, fabric archives and development storage.
- Support colour management throughout the development process.
- Review samples and assist in preparing comments for suppliers.
- Update spreadsheets, trackers and product information accurately.
- Liaise confidently with suppliers and internal teams via email and video meetings.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes and organisation within the department.
- Effectively prioritise workload to ensure multiple development projects remain on track.
Specific Skills and Experience
Essential
- Degree or diploma in Fashion, Garment Technology, Textile Technology or a related discipline.
- Placement year or up to 2 years’ experience within apparel product development, production or technical design.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and the product development process.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Confident and professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly via email with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, AI (such as Copilot) and Adobe Illustrator.
- Self-motivated, proactive and eager to learn.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A genuine desire to develop technical knowledge and build a successful career as a Product Developer.
Desirable
- Experience working with workwear, outdoor or performance apparel.
- Knowledge of PLM systems.
- Understanding of colour management and fabric testing.
- Interest in sustainability and responsible sourcing.

What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12 months you will:
- Confidently manage product administration across multiple development projects.
- Communicate professionally and confidently with suppliers and internal teams.
- Produce accurate product specifications and development documentation.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, consistently meeting development deadlines.
- Build a solid understanding of fabrics, garment construction, colour management and the product development process.
- Contribute ideas that improve product development processes and team efficiency.
- Become a trusted and reliable member of the Product team, taking ownership of your work while continuing to expand your knowledge and skills as a Product Developer.
Pay: £30,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
