We have some very big shoes to fill.
After four years with us, our brilliant Housekeeper is leaving to join her partner in their growing independent business, and we're looking for someone to take over the care of The Grapes and our B&B.
This is a permanent housekeeping role in a busy, independent historic pub in central Bath. It is much more than simply cleaning the bar: you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day housekeeping of the building, including our guest accommodation, Living Room and shared spaces.
The role averages around 27 hours per week, usually spread across six mornings. Hours vary according to guest bookings and the needs of the pub, but you'll generally finish by around 2pm and rarely later than 3pm.
We're looking for someone who can start as soon as possible so there can be a proper handover with our current Housekeeper.
The role includes:
- Preparing and maintaining our guest bedrooms and bathrooms to a very high standard
- B&B changeovers and bed making
- Looking after the pub, Living Room and communal areas
- Managing our in-house laundry, including washing, drying, folding and occasional ironing
- Keeping housekeeping supplies organised and letting us know when things need replacing
- Working independently and organising your own workload
- Spotting what needs doing rather than waiting to be asked
- Helping us look after a beautiful, very old and occasionally idiosyncratic building
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and conscientious
- Fastidious about standards
- Organised and able to work independently
- Flexible when guest bookings or pub life require it
- Comfortable managing several different areas of a building
- Friendly and happy working around a small hospitality team and our guests
- Someone who genuinely takes pride in looking after a place
Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience would be useful, but attitude, reliability and attention to detail matter enormously to us.
Hours: Around 27 hours per week, normally across six mornings
Pay: £13.25 per hour
Contract: We're happy to discuss contracted guaranteed hours if preferred

The Grapes is an independent pub and B&B in the centre of Bath. Our current Housekeeper has looked after us beautifully for four years, so we're not pretending she will be easy to replace. But there will be a proper handover, and we're looking forward to finding the next person who'll make the place their own.
