ABOUT THE ROLE
DSM Contract Lifting Services Ltd is looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our depot team in Brentwood.
The role involves processing redundant metals and materials for recycling, maintaining a safe and organised yard, and assisting with general depot, maintenance and offloading duties.
This is a practical, hands-on position suited to someone who is hardworking, dependable and comfortable working outdoors. Previous experience is helpful but not essential, as all necessary training will be provided.
WORKING HOURS
Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
30-minute unpaid break each day
42.5 paid hours per week
Occasional evening and weekend overtime may be available
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing and separating redundant metals and materials into the appropriate skips and containers
- Using basic hand and power tools to cut, separate and prepare materials
- Assisting with offloading vehicles and organising materials within the yard
- Carrying out general yard maintenance and depot duties
- Operating forklifts and other yard equipment once trained and authorised
- Completing daily checks on equipment and PPE
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Following all company health and safety procedures
- Working effectively as part of a small and supportive team
PAY AND BENEFITS
- £540.18 gross basic pay per week
- Approximately £28,089 gross basic pay per year, based on 42.5 hours per week

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Relevant training will be funded and arranged by DSM, which may include:
- Forklift training and certification
- Additional safety and equipment training relevant to the role
REQUIREMENTS
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual work outdoors
- Able to use basic hand and power tools safely
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions
- Willing to learn and undertake relevant training
- Previous yard, recycling, construction or labouring experience is desirable but not essential
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential
- Must comply with the company’s drugs and alcohol policy; testing may be undertaken as part of the recruitment process and during employment
