Business Operations Manager
Location: Leeds (office based)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Chatterbug is an ambitious social enterprise delivering speech and language therapy services to children and young people. As we scale our services, partnerships and digital offer, we are investing in the operational foundations needed to grow well and deliver consistently.
This is a genuinely autonomous, hands-on management role for someone who enjoys building and embedding better ways of working. You will bring order to complexity, obtain the information needed to make sound decisions and follow work through to completion. You will report to the CEO, line manage the admin team and work closely with clinical leadership. The role does not make clinical decisions, but ensures that operational systems enable safe, effective and financially sustainable delivery.
Your priorities
- Establish a reliable weekly view of delivery, therapist capacity, invoicing, aged debt and key risks.
- Create clear ownership, deadlines and follow-through across operational activity.
- Reduce unnecessary dependency on senior leaders for routine decisions, updates and problem-solving.
Key responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day admin, office and service-delivery operations.
- Oversee school schedules and maintain visibility of days purchased, scheduled, delivered, remaining and owed.
- Monitor therapist capacity, service demand and delivery risks; implement recovery actions where required.
- Produce reliable reports on invoicing, income, aged debt, expected income and outstanding actions.
- Line manage the admin team, oversee KPIs and address underperformance.
- Coordinate staffing, recruitment, onboarding, complaints, office and compliance activity with the relevant leaders.
- Write and embed practical processes, oversee operational automations and produce concise business-performance reports.
About you
- Experience managing operations or service delivery in education, healthcare or another complex service-led organisation.
- Experience managing complex scheduling, workforce capacity or resource allocation.
- Confidence producing and interpreting financial or management reports, including income, invoicing or aged debt.
- Experience line managing an admin or support team and holding performance standards.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, sound judgement, ownership, communication and follow-through.
What we offer
- 7 weeks annual leave, inclusive of public holidays.
- Health and wellbeing support, including a healthcare cash plan, 24/7 GP and counselling support.
- Group income protection and life assurance, subject to scheme terms.
- Blue Light Card and retail-discount schemes.
