Part-time Support Officer/Estate Manager
Guildford, Surrey (27.5 hours per week)
(3 month Temporary contract)
Are you looking for a varied role where no two days are the same? Can you combine excellent customer service and resident support skills with a practical, organised approach to estate management? Do you enjoy solving problems, building relationships and taking pride in creating safe, welcoming communities for older people?
About the role
This is a varied and rewarding temporary opportunity working across two retirement developments in Guildford, combining resident support, estate management and community engagement.
Based across two neighbouring estates located just 10 minutes apart, you will play a key role in supporting residents to live independently while helping to ensure both developments remain safe, welcoming and well maintained. Working closely with residents, contractors, colleagues and Head Office teams, you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of customer service and providing practical day-to-day support to our retirement communities.
The role combines welfare and tenancy-related responsibilities with estate management duties, giving you the opportunity to make a real difference to residents' lives while overseeing the smooth running of the developments.
You will build strong relationships with residents, carrying out regular welfare contact, responding to emergencies and signposting to appropriate support services where required. You will also manage accommodation enquiries, including transfer requests and enquiries from new applicants, involving sending out application forms, managing people’s expectations and updating the waiting list accordingly. Equally important will be obtaining references for potential applicants, interviewing them, seeking approval from the Area Manager, setting up Tenancy Agreements and inducting new tenants.
Alongside this, you will oversee the day-to-day management of a smaller neighbouring development, ensuring communal areas and facilities are maintained to a high standard. This will include coordinating contractors, carrying out regular estate inspections, managing health and safety requirements, responding to resident enquiries and maintaining accurate records.
The role involves a range of administrative responsibilities including managing correspondence, monitoring welfare and maintenance matters in collaboration with the Caretaker, processing invoices and charges, supporting rent account administration and producing reports, newsletters and other estate communications.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and is passionate about supporting older people to live well within thriving independent retirement communities.
