The ideal candidate will have an empathetic manner, excellent communication skills and be IT confident, ideally with some experience working with our clinical system SystmOne, but this is not essential as full training will be provided.
These posts (hours negotiable to fit in with current team) attract 5 weeks annual leave (all pro rata) and an NHS pension.

Main duties of the job.
To deal efficiently and courteously with our patient enquiries and requests.
To provide administrative support to the practice.
Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
* To provide an efficient typing and word processing service for GP's and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
* To assist the Practice with all clerical and administrative duties.
* To make appointments, bookings and admissions as required.
* To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
* To retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical /insurance records.
* File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
* To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
* To maintain the computers clinic system (System One) in an accurate and secure manner.
* To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
* To provide cover for members of the team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
*To receive and dispatch mail and maintain a pending system.
* Opening up/Locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
* Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system.
*Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits, and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare service/professional.
* Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
* Taking messages and passing on information
* Filing and retrieving paperwork
* To collect and process repeat prescriptions
* Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.
*Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
* providing clerical assistance as required, including word processing, filing, photocopying and scanning.
*Keeping the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Partners, Practice Manager or Reception Lead.
About us
We are a small practice with approximately 5600 patients located in Stocksfield.
Our team includes GP's, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Administrative and Reception staff who all work together supportively, with external staff such as Community Nurses and Health Visitors, to provide the best care for our registered patients.
Person Specification:
Essential: GCSE English
Desirable: IT Qualification or Experience (System One Experience, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word)
Experience:
*Previous experience of working in a team environment and customer service orientated role.
*Previous experience of a clinical system (beneficial)
*Good Telephone manner and capable of dealing with telephone queries
*Previous General Practice experience (beneficial)
*Excellent communication skills (able to communicate on different levels)
*Pleasant and calm manner
