£26,000 – £35,000 depending on mortgage and financial services experience, with a salary review at 12 months as the adviser team grows

Active Mortgages is an established mortgage and insurance brokerage in Chelmsford, working with self-employed mortgage and protection advisers across the UK. We specialise in residential mortgages, property investment and more complex mortgage requirements.
We generate the enquiries and provide the systems, technology and infrastructure that help our advisers build successful businesses. What we need now is someone to sit at the centre of the day-to-day operation and keep it all moving.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're growing from seven self-employed advisers to around twenty-five over the next twelve months.
This role grows with it. You'll start by taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the brokerage, and as the adviser base expands so does the scope, the responsibility and the salary. If you want a role where you can build something rather than inherit it, this is that role.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Supporting our advisers
Be the main point of contact for our self-employed advisers and help them stay organised. Check in regularly on pipelines, case flags and outstanding actions, and help them spot opportunities in their existing client relationships that might otherwise be missed.
Enquiries and leads
Manage incoming mortgage enquiries, allocate them to the right advisers, and monitor them through to make sure nothing is left uncontacted or forgotten. Answer incoming calls and handle general adviser and client queries.
Systems, compliance and administration
Keep our CRM and adviser records accurate and up to date. Work with our outsourced compliance support to make sure case checks are submitted, then track any remedial work through to completion. Handle lender and provider registrations, raise invoices and monitor payments.
Onboarding and events
Coordinate the onboarding of new advisers joining the business, paperwork, ID checks, system access, lender registrations and training. Help organise quarterly adviser meetings, training days and team events.
Throughout all of it, you'll be spotting problems before they become bigger ones, taking ownership without waiting for direction, and finding simple ways to make life easier for our advisers.
This is not a mortgage processing role.
You won't be obtaining client documents, submitting applications or running cases through to offer.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience in mortgages, financial services or another regulated environment. You don't need to be CeMAP qualified or have worked as an adviser, but you should be comfortable with advisers, lenders, compliance and the language of the industry.
Beyond that, you'll need to be someone who:
- Is exceptionally organised and can hold a lot of small moving parts without losing any of them
- Takes ownership and works out what needs doing rather than waiting to be told
- Follows things through to finished, and is comfortable chasing people when something needs doing
- Notices when something has been missed or doesn't look right
- Is confident with technology and online systems — we run on ACRE and our own CRM, and you'll be using them daily
- Communicates clearly and confidently with advisers, clients and third parties
- Understands confidentiality and the importance of working properly within a regulated environment
You'll own the day-to-day here, and there's always plenty on. If you enjoy being busy, like a full task list and get real satisfaction from organising people and getting things finished, you'll enjoy this role.
