At Gretna Green, our Reception Teams are often the first people our guests meet and the last people they remember. Whether welcoming a couple arriving for their wedding, helping a family settle into their stay, or sharing local recommendations with visitors from around the world, our Receptionists play an essential role in creating unforgettable experiences.
We're looking for a Hotel Receptionist to join our friendly and professional team, working across Smiths and Gretna Hall.
This is more than a front desk role. It's an opportunity to be part of a team that takes pride in delivering exceptional service and creating memorable moments for every guest who walks through our doors. You'll be supported every step of the way, working alongside experienced colleagues who are passionate about what they do.
No two days are ever the same. One moment you could be checking in excited wedding guests, the next helping to arrange a special surprise for an anniversary celebration or ensuring a guest arriving after a long journey feels instantly at home. Whatever the occasion, your warmth, professionalism and attention to detail will make all the difference.
What we're looking for:
- A friendly and welcoming personality with a passion for customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility and a willingness to support the team wherever needed
- Previous hotel reception experience is welcomed, but your attitude and enthusiasm are what matter most
What you'll receive:
- A permanent full-time contract, working 40 hours per week
- The opportunity to work across Smiths and Gretna Hall, two iconic and much-loved properties
- A supportive team environment with experienced colleagues who will help you succeed
- Starting pay of £12.75 per hour, increasing to £12.85 per hour following successful completion of your probationary period
- Shifts worked across 7 days per week, typically on an early shift of 7:00am – 3:30pm or a late shift of 2:30pm – 11:00pm, with flexibility required to support the needs of the business
