About the Role
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our growing finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance or accounts administration experience who is looking to develop their skills and gain exposure across multiple areas of finance. You'll support core finance processes including invoicing, reconciliations, payroll administration, reporting, and credit control, while working closely with colleagues across the business.
As part of a supportive team, you'll receive training and development opportunities, including support towards an AAT qualification following successful completion of probation. This role offers genuine opportunities to grow your knowledge and take on increased responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Raise and process sales and purchase invoices.
- Process purchase orders and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Support bank reconciliations and the processing of financial transactions.
- Assist with credit control and customer account management.
- Provide administration support for monthly payroll processing.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, schedules and trackers.
- Support month-end processes and finance reporting activities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Liaise with colleagues, suppliers and external providers.
- Contribute to process improvements and support wider finance initiatives.
- Occasionally provide cover and deputise for other finance team members during periods of absence.
About You
You'll be an organised and dependable individual who enjoys working with numbers and takes pride in producing accurate work.
Essential
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts or administration role.
- Strong numerical and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and positive approach to work.
Desirable
- Experience with invoicing, reconciliations, credit control or payroll administration.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero.
- Understanding of VAT processes.
- Experience supporting FCA reporting requirements.
- Studying towards, or interested in pursuing, an AAT qualification.
