Annyalla Chicks are looking for a dedicated Assistant Farm Manager to support the day-to-day running of our newly refurbished breeder farm. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines livestock husbandry with commercial farm management. You will play a key role in ensuring that eggs are produced to the highest quality standards, while upholding exceptional levels of bird health and welfare at all times.
Job Overview
The Assistant Manager’s role is to support the Farm Manager, deputising in their absence and assisting in all aspects of running of the farm. The job includes working in the chicken houses and egg packing room, ensuring that staff are organised and follow company procedures, that equipment is operating correctly and that the farm administration is kept up to date. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in chicken farming and the skills needed to manage the farm effectively, as well as a passion for animal welfare.
Responsibilities
- To deputise for the Farm Manager during his rest days and holidays;
- To ensure that the welfare of the birds in our care is protected at all times;
- To maintain daily records accurately and report flock performance to the Area Manager;
- To assist with compliance to company and industry audit standards.
Skills
- Effective time management and personal and team organisation;
- A keen eye for detail;
- Good team player;
- Basic computer skills including the use of email and spreadsheets.
Experience and qualifications
- Experience in the poultry industry is essential for this role;
- The role requires NVQ level 3 in poultry and training will be provided if the successful candidate does not hold this qualification.
