Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a desire to learn in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role is essential in supporting our chefs with meal preparation, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen space. Previous experience in catering or restaurant settings is highly desirable.
Food safety certification desired or open to getting this before starting. Part & full time hours available.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking and meal assembly
- Support chefs with cooking tasks as required, ensuring high standards of food quality
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils
- Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
- Help with the serving of meals during service periods, ensuring timely delivery to customers
- Participate in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and storage of food items
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations
- Front of house service.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within catering or restaurant settings
- Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene regulations
- Knowledge of Caribbean food And culture desired.
- Basic culinary skills, including meal preparation and cooking techniques
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks as required
- Food safety level 2 certification (willing to obtain if not alread)
