About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Software Engineering to lead our software engineering function and help shape the next stage of our technology platform.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a hands-on technology leader who can combine software engineering expertise, people leadership, technical strategy and delivery management. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to establish engineering standards, develop high-performing teams and deliver reliable, scalable software.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop software engineering teams across multiple projects and products.
- Set and execute the software engineering strategy in line with business objectives.
- Provide technical leadership across software architecture, development, testing and deployment.
- Establish engineering standards, development practices and quality processes.
- Oversee the delivery of secure, scalable and maintainable software solutions.
- Work with product, design, operations and business stakeholders to define priorities and delivery plans.
- Coach, mentor and support engineering managers, technical leads and software engineers.
- Manage engineering resources, budgets, priorities and delivery risks.
- Promote Agile, Scrum or other effective software development methodologies.
- Champion automation, CI/CD, DevOps and modern engineering practices.
- Monitor engineering performance, quality, reliability and delivery outcomes.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations where they can deliver meaningful business value.
- Contribute to long-term technology architecture and platform strategy.
Required Skills and Experience
- Significant professional experience in software engineering and technology leadership.
- Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices and engineering principles.
- Experience with software architecture, system design and technical decision-making.
- Experience delivering complex software projects from planning through production.
- Strong knowledge of Agile development and delivery methodologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps or CI/CD practices.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with practical technical decision-making.
- Strong focus on software quality, security, scalability and reliability.
Preferred Experience
- Experience leading engineering teams within a growing technology organisation.
- Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Experience with modern web technologies, APIs and distributed systems.
- Experience working with automated testing and continuous integration.
- Experience managing engineering budgets and resource planning.
- Experience building engineering teams, processes and career-development frameworks.
