We are looking for an organised, motivated and experienced Medical Secretary / Administrator to join our busy and friendly GP practice team.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the practice with referral processing, administrative triage and general medical administration, ensuring that patient care is supported by accurate, efficient and timely administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and managing patient referrals using EMIS Web and e-RS
- Using AI (Heidi) to process voice dictations
- Using AccuRx to support patient communication and administrative workflows.
- Processing clinical correspondence and administrative tasks through Docman 10.
- Supporting the Administrative Triage Team with the day-to-day management and processing of administrative requests.
- Reviewing incoming correspondence and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Ensuring referrals and patient information are processed accurately and within required timescales.
- Liaising with GPs, clinicians, hospitals, patients and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
- Monitoring referrals and outstanding actions, following up where necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records on EMIS Web.
- Responding to telephone and email enquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
- Preparing and processing medical correspondence and documentation.
- Providing general administrative and secretarial support to the clinical and wider practice team.
- Maintaining strict patient confidentiality and adhering to information governance and practice policies.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practice.
- Providing additional administrative support and cover during periods of staff holiday, training and other absences when required.

Previous knowledge or experience of EMIS Web, Heidi, AccuRx, e-RS and the Choose and Book system would be advantageous; however, training can be provided where appropriate.

Working Hours:
This is a full time position, 37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
