Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant educational community. In this role, you will provide essential support to learners aged 16–19 with special educational needs, helping to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner can thrive.
Hours: 9:00am–4:00pm
Days: 2–5 days available per week
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities
- Support learners with autism and other disabilities by implementing tailored learning strategies and behavioural interventions.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons that accommodate individual learning styles and needs.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers and families to ensure consistent support and progress tracking.
- Help create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages social interaction, independence and confidence.
- Assist with daily routines such as feeding, toileting and mobility to support learners' needs.
- Observe and document student progress, behaviour patterns and any concerns to inform ongoing support plans.
- Provide personal care and support where required.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children or young people in educational or care settings, particularly those with autism or disabilities.
- Background in teaching or special education is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience supporting individuals with diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, parents and external professionals.
- Knowledge of best practices in special education and inclusive teaching techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to remain patient, adaptable and proactive in dynamic environments.
- Comfortable and confident delivering personal care.
Candidates must have both a valid Child and Adult DBS to be considered for this role.
