Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Hoist Operator to join our dynamic construction and materials handling team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating hoists safely and efficiently to move heavy materials and equipment across job sites. Your expertise will ensure smooth operations, adherence to safety protocols, and timely delivery of materials. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while developing your skills in machinery operation and site logistics.
Responsibilities
- Operate hoists safely to lift, lower, and transport materials, equipment, and supplies across construction sites or warehouses.
- Conduct routine inspections of hoist machinery to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, crane operators, and other team members to schedule lifts and ensure safety compliance.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts, excavators, or other heavy machinery as needed.
- Maintain accurate logs of all hoist operations, including load details, times, and safety checks.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents or injuries during lifting operations.
- Support shipping & receiving activities by managing the movement of materials in warehouse environments.
Experience
- Proven experience operating hoists or similar lifting equipment in construction or warehouse settings.
- Mechanical knowledge of hoist systems, forklifts, excavators, and related machinery is highly desirable.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial driving preferred.
- Hands-on experience with materials handling, shipping & receiving processes, and warehouse operations.
- Construction experience is a plus, especially familiarity with site safety standards and equipment operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety and efficiency.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

Pay: From £16.75 per hour

Licence/Certification:
- IPAF (preferred)
- CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card (required)
