Role Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, the exclusive ferry operator to the Isle of Man.
We are seeking Seasonal Security Guards to join our professional security team based at the Liverpool terminal. The role involves delivering a consistently high standard of customer service, embracing a positive experience for our passengers and visitors, whilst also guaranteeing efficient security operations in accordance with the ISPS Code and port security regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine patrols of the port facility to ensure the safety and security of the site, maintaining full compliance
- Manage access control by verifying and processing visitors, contractors, and deliveries in accordance with established procedures
- Operate security screening equipment, including X-ray machines and metal detectors
- Complete accurate record-keeping and administrative duties in line with DfT requirements, including dangerous goods and freight
- Carry out security screening of passengers, luggage, and vehicles while maintaining a friendly and customer-focused approach
- Operate company vehicles when required
- Undertake cleaning and basic maintenance tasks across the facility
This role requires working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, ensuring security standards are consistently maintained.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with passengers and colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to think intuitively and work effectively as part of a team
- We process a large volume of foot passengers and vehicles throughout the summer season. Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where demands and priorities vary on a daily basis
- Flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work
- A willingness to learn and a can-do attitude
Desirable:
- Previous experience within a security, tourism, or hospitality environment.
- Full UK driving licence
Working Hours and Shifts
- 16 hours+ per week
- Shift pattern operates on a 4 days on / 2 days off rota
- 12-hour day shifts and 12-hour night shifts as required
- Working split shifts, weekends, and bank holidays also form part of the role
- Additional hours may be available subject to operational requirements
Training
Full training is provided for this role.
Candidates must successfully complete and pass the mandatory ISPS Code examination in order to continue the training period. Training is fully paid over a two-week period.
Full uniform will be provided after a successful training period.
Successful candidates must be able to complete a 10-year background check and provide satisfactory employment references.
