Lead Auditor
Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to assess and verify clients’ food safety management systems and operational practices against recognised GFSI benchmarked standards.
The GFSI Auditor works across a wide range of industry sectors—including food, beverages, packaging, storage, transport and consumer products—using their technical knowledge to evaluate compliance, identify risks, and support clients in improving the integrity of their operations.
By understanding each client’s business processes and conducting robust, impartial audits, the role helps enhance food safety, product quality, and supply chain assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct certification audits in line with relevant ISO, BRCGS or FSSC standards, conducting opening meeting to explain the audit process, preparing a report and delivering your findings.
- Conduct audits both onsite and remotely.
- Ultimately making certification / recommendation decisions against the relevant ISO, BRCGS or FSSC standards.
- Build positive relationships with our customers to ensure long term business growth and identify any business development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to make sure our assessment services give customers valued added support and meet all accreditation requirements.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple audits, meet deadlines, and support operational KPIs.
- Customer complaint support.
- Take responsibility for personal development, balancing work, safety and life priorities.
- Commitment to continuing professional development, maintaining auditor competence and sector-specific knowledge.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to colleagues, sharing best practice and contributing to auditor development and continuous improvement of assessment processes.
What You'll Bring:
- Fluent in English both written and verbal (essential)
- Strong IT skills including in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Microsoft Teams (essential)
- Excellent communication skills (essential)
- Food safety certificates are beneficial such as HACCP Level 3 minimum, BRCGS, FSSC, ISO22000 Lead Auditor.
- Degree in food science / science, a related technical field, or industry related experience relevant to the scheme requirements for BRCGS, FSSC / GMP, typically amounting to 5 years.
- Currently in a quality or technical role within the food and beverage / food packaging industry.
- ISO9001 would also be preferred but not essential
- Able to travel to client sites as required. / Full, clean driving licence (where applicable).
