Waking Night Care Assistant – Barnhaven Residential Care Home (EX16 9NB)
Location: Barnhaven Residential Care Home, Tiverton, EX16 9NB
Hours: Waking Nights
Salary: Competitive, with training and development opportunities
Contract: Permanent
Barnhaven Residential Care Home is a warm, welcoming, and well‑established service in the heart of Bampton. We pride ourselves on providing compassionate, person‑centred care in a homely environment where residents feel safe, valued, and supported. We are now looking for a dedicated Waking Night Care Assistant to join our friendly team and help us continue delivering exceptional care throughout the night.
About the Role
As a Waking Night Care Assistant at Barnhaven, you will play a vital part in ensuring our residents’ comfort and safety overnight. You’ll be a calm, reassuring presence, supporting individuals with their night‑time needs and maintaining a peaceful environment. This is a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to people’s lives during their most vulnerable hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor residents’ safety and well-being throughout the night, responding promptly to any needs or emergencies.
- Provide respectful, dignified personal care in line with individual care plans.
- Support residents with mobility, repositioning, and comfort to prevent pressure-related issues.
- Maintain accurate night-time records, observations, and incident reports.
- Administer medication (following training and competency checks).
- Offer emotional reassurance and a calm presence during unsettled periods.
- Ensure the home remains clean, safe, and comfortable overnight.
- Complete thorough handovers with day staff to ensure continuity of care.
What We’re Looking For
- A caring, patient, and reliable individual with a genuine passion for supporting others.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work confidently during quiet night hours.
- Basic IT skills for digital care recording.
- Previous care experience is helpful but not essential — full training is provided.
- A driving licence is beneficial but not required; you will need to have a form of transport as public transport does not service the town with regularity to allow for night hours start and finish times.
Why Join Barnhaven?
- A supportive, close‑knit team who value kindness, professionalism, and teamwork.
- A homely, community‑focused environment where staff and residents build meaningful relationships.
- Full induction, training, and ongoing development opportunities.
- The chance to make a real impact in a respected local care home.
If you’re compassionate, dependable, and looking for a role where you can truly make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
