About the Role
NSEA Engineers Limited is looking for a highly experienced Wire EDM / Spark Erosion Operator to join our engineering team on a part-time basis.
We are specifically looking for someone with strong hands-on experience who is fully competent in the setting, programming and operation of EDM machinery and is capable of working independently from engineering drawings.
This position may be particularly suitable for an experienced or semi-retired engineer who would like to continue using their skills on a flexible, part-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, programme and operate Wire EDM / spark erosion machinery
- Produce components accurately to engineering drawings and specifications
- Determine appropriate machining methods, settings and cutting strategies
- Carry out machine set-ups independently
- Inspect completed components using appropriate measuring equipment
- Work to close tolerances and maintain consistently high standards of quality
- Identify and resolve machining or programming issues
- Ensure machinery and work areas are maintained to a high standard
- Work safely and in accordance with company procedures
Experience Required
Applicants must have substantial previous experience operating Wire EDM / spark erosion machinery.
You should be:
- Highly experienced in setting and programming EDM machines
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Experienced in producing precision-engineered components to tight tolerances
- Competent in the use of standard engineering inspection and measuring equipment
- Able to troubleshoot machining and programming issues
- Quality focused with a strong attention to detail
Previous experience within a precision engineering, machining, toolmaking or manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.
Working Hours
This is a part-time position, and there is flexibility around the working pattern for the right candidate. We are happy to discuss hours and days to suit an experienced applicant.
The role may therefore be particularly attractive to someone who is semi-retired or looking to reduce their working hours while continuing to use their engineering experience and skills.
Salary
Competitive hourly rate / salary dependent on experience.
