About Branxholm Park
Branxholm Park is a family-run, luxury exclusive-use wedding venue near Hawick in the Scottish Borders. We are a private country-house style wedding venue rather than a large corporate hotel. Our team is warm, professional and guest-focused, and we take pride in making the venue feel properly cared for and beautifully presented.
The role
We are looking for a reliable, detail-focused Housekeeping Supervisor / Manager to take ownership of housekeeping standards across Branxholm Park. This is a hands-on housekeeping leadership role: you will clean alongside the team, lead by example, help organise the work and make sure the venue and accommodation are fully guest-ready.
You do not need to currently hold a Housekeeping Manager title. We would particularly welcome applications from experienced Housekeepers and Housekeeping Supervisors who feel ready to take on more responsibility. Strong cleaners with relevant hospitality or accommodation experience who are ready to step up are also encouraged to apply.
Pay and hours
Pay is £15.00 to £17.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is an employed, part-time zero-hours position, generally expected to offer between 5 and 30 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary according to weddings, guest stays, changeovers, viewings, holiday-let bookings and cleaning requirements.
The role is predominantly daytime and can include weekday and weekend shifts around departures, arrivals and changeovers. Evening work is not a normal requirement. Our wedding calendar is usually known months in advance, so rotas are generally organised around known work. Holiday-let bookings can occasionally create additional cleaning requirements at shorter notice.
Main responsibilities
- Working alongside the housekeeping team and leading by example
- Cleaning and resetting guest bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and social areas
- Making beds and preparing accommodation for guests
- Supporting wedding, guest-stay and property changeovers
- Allocating tasks to cleaners when required
- Checking that rooms and guest areas are properly finished
- Carrying out final presentation checks before guests arrive
- Maintaining consistently high housekeeping and presentation standards
- Helping organise work around departures, arrivals and venue requirements
- Helping train and support new housekeeping staff
- Monitoring cleaning supplies and stock
- Reporting maintenance problems, damage, stains or missing items
- Communicating clearly with management and the housekeeping team
- Working independently when needed
- Supporting cleaning at associated guest accommodation and holiday-let properties in Hawick when required
What we are looking for
Reliability, attention to detail and high standards are essential. You should be organised, practical and able to prioritise, communicate well and work both independently and as part of a team. You should be comfortable taking responsibility, leading by example and adapting when requirements change.
Relevant experience may come from hotel or wedding-venue housekeeping, holiday-let or Airbnb cleaning, care-home cleaning, commercial cleaning, senior housekeeping or housekeeping supervision. Previous supervisory, training or staff-organisation experience is desirable but not essential. Formal qualifications are not required if you have strong, relevant experience and are ready to take on more responsibility.
Transport requirement
Due to our rural location and the nature of the role, applicants must have access to their own car or reliable private transport. Branxholm Park is difficult to access reliably by public transport, and the role may also involve travelling between Branxholm Park and our Hawick properties.
There is no live-in accommodation, no travel allowance and no paid travel expenses.
Why this role may appeal
This could particularly suit an experienced Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor who would like more responsibility and ownership of standards without moving into a conventional full-time hotel management role. It is a practical, physical role within a friendly family-run venue, with the opportunity to become a trusted part of the team and make a visible difference to our guests' experience.
Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
