We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker (Nights) to join our accommodation-based service team. The successful candidate will support a 22 bed, short stay facility designed for individuals transitioning from hospital discharge to rehabilitation and re-ablement. This role involves working closely with residents, healthcare professionals, and other support staff to create a safe and supportive living environment.
Resident Support
· Provide overnight support and supervision in a 22-bed residential setting.
· Assist residents with personal care, household tasks, and daily living activities as required.
· Support residents in managing their mental health, including medication management and promoting good sleep hygiene.
· Encourage independence, dignity, and choice in all aspects of care.
Recovery and Care Planning
· Work with the wider team to develop and implement individualised strengths-based support plans.
· Monitor and record residents’ progress, identifying and reporting any concerns.
· Respond calmly and effectively to crises and emergencies.
Teamwork and Collaboration
· Collaborate with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to ensure holistic care.
· Promote effective communication across shifts to maintain consistency of support.
Compliance and Standards
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with organisational and regulatory standards.
· Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies.
· Support with cleaning and household tasks to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
Person Specification
Qualifications
· Relevant qualification (NVQ L3) in mental health, social care, related field or through relevant experience.
Experience
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mental health support or related role.
· Experience in an accommodation-based service, particularly hospital discharge, rehabilitation, or reablement, is desirable.
Skills & Knowledge
· Knowledge of mental health conditions and recovery-focused practice.
· Understanding of safeguarding principles.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Organisational and time-management abilities.
· Competence in IT for record-keeping and communication.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
