NOVUS Academy is looking for an exceptional Hockey Coach to lead specialist two-day workshops at Badminton School this October.
About NOVUS Academy
NOVUS Academy is a new approach to holiday enrichment.
Instead of children sampling lots of disconnected activities, each Academy gives them two focused days to immerse themselves in one discipline, receive specialist coaching and work towards a meaningful final outcome.
Every workshop follows our three-stage approach:
Discover – Explore the discipline, build confidence and establish strong foundations.
Develop – Refine skills, take on new challenges and make visible progress.
Perform – Bring everything together through match play, challenges or a final tournament that children can be genuinely proud of.
With small groups, excellent facilities and an assistant supporting each lead coach, our aim is to create something far more purposeful and memorable than a traditional holiday camp.
Available dates
- Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 October 2026
- Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October 2026
Working hours will be approximately 8:30am–5:00pm.
We would ideally like someone available for all four days, but we also welcome applications from excellent coaches who can lead either two-day workshop.
The role
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and leading an exciting two-day hockey programme
- Developing strong technical foundations and tactical understanding
- Adapting activities for different ages and levels of experience
- Helping every child develop confidence, decision-making and teamwork
- Delivering engaging skills practices, challenges and match play
- Creating a safe, positive and ambitious coaching environment
- Working closely with an assistant coach and the NOVUS Academy leadership team
- Building towards a memorable final tournament, match or showcase
Who we’re looking for
We want someone who is genuinely excellent at hockey but, just as importantly, is brilliant with children and can make the experience feel really special.
You should:
- Have strong hockey knowledge and practical coaching experience
- Have substantial experience coaching or teaching children
- Be confident planning and leading a complete two-day programme
- Be able to inspire beginners while challenging more experienced players
- Create sessions that are purposeful, inclusive and enjoyable
- Be creative, reliable and enthusiastic
- Communicate brilliantly with children, families and colleagues
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to complete the required checks
Relevant hockey coaching qualifications, teaching experience, safeguarding training and first-aid certification are highly desirable.
