Job title: Accounts & HR Assistant Apprentice
Hours of work: 8am – 5pm. Overtime as required
Accountable to: Management Accountant
Role Summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Accounts & HR Assistant Apprentice to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has completed, or is currently studying towards, an AAT Level 3 or Level 4 qualification and is looking to develop a career in finance and business administration.
The successful candidate will support the Finance and HR functions with a variety of day-to-day tasks, gaining practical experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations, payroll support, and general HR administration. Training and support will be provided.
Purchase Ledger
- Process supplier invoices accurately and promptly.
- Post and reconcile company credit card transactions.
- Prepare and process weekly and monthly supplier payment runs.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve supplier queries.
Sales Ledger
- Raise customer invoices and credit notes.
- Monitor outstanding debt and assist with credit control.
- Allocate customer payments.
- Support with customer account queries.
Banking & Reconciliations
- Prepare and process bank payments.
- Assist with reconciliation of Director Loan Accounts.
- Support month-end finance processes where required.
HR Administration
- Support the onboarding process for new employees.
- Prepare induction paperwork and employment documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files.
- Assist with general HR administration, including filing, updating records and issuing letters.
- Support the organisation of staff inductions and training records.
Administration & Department Support
- Provide administrative support to the Finance and HR departments.
- Perform general office administration duties.
- Provide cover for the finance department when required.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as requested.
Skills & Requirements
- Ideally have completed, or currently be studying towards, AAT Level 3 or Level 4.
- Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good numeracy and IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Positive, proactive and reliable approach to work.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- An interest in developing a career in finance, accounts or business administration.
Desirable
- Previous office or administrative experience (including work experience or part-time employment).
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
Pay: £26,000.00-£26,437.00 per year
