About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Bricklayer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out bricklaying and associated masonry work across residential and commercial construction and refurbishment projects.
This is a hands-on role requiring a good understanding of brickwork, construction methods, health and safety requirements, and the ability to work accurately to drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and repair walls, partitions and other structures using bricks, blocks and other masonry materials.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Measure and mark out areas accurately before commencing brickwork.
- Mix and apply mortar to the required specification.
- Lay bricks and blocks to the required line, level and alignment.
- Cut and shape bricks and blocks where required.
- Construct openings for doors, windows and other structural features.
- Carry out repointing, brick repairs and remedial masonry work where required.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure completed work meets project specifications.
- Work safely and comply with site health and safety procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment and working areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Work effectively with other trades and construction workers on site.
- Report any material, structural or construction issues to the site supervisor or manager.
- Follow project schedules and complete assigned work within agreed timescales.
Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- Proven experience working as a Bricklayer.
- Practical experience in bricklaying and blockwork.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Good knowledge of bricklaying techniques, mortar mixing and masonry construction.
- Ability to work accurately and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
- Good understanding of construction-site health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider construction team.
- Good reliability, timekeeping and communication skills.
- Relevant construction qualifications or trade experience would be advantageous.
