We require an individual to join our multidisciplinary team working with adults with Learning Disabilities and complex needs in Tayside, based at Murray Royal Hospital Perth, in the Learning Disability Inpatient Service. Applications are invited from individuals with previous experience working with people with disabilities in a health or social care environment and who preferably hold relevant SVQ level II qualifications or equivalent experience. Candidates should have the ability to work independently with individuals and groups within the Centre and within a community setting.
Candidates should have good communication skills, have experience of engaging people within therapeutic activities and have good team working skills. The successful applicant will work within this established and valued Occupational Therapy Service for people with a Learning Disability with complex needs and challenging behaviour. Regular supervision, peer and team support plus encouragement of innovative practice make this post attractive. The post holder will be expected to use a wide range of therapeutic media and interventions within Occupational Therapy sessions art/craft, leisure/recreational activities, activities of daily living and work placement activities. The post holder will also be expected to supervise/escort patients within their care management plan. They will also be expected to travel with patients to their activities in the community whether as a driver of a crown car or minibus or as the passenger supervising a patient or patients.
You will be provided with a package that will include Healthcare Support Workers Mandatory Induction Standards and supervision from an experienced Occupational Therapist with further training and development.
You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment.
