We are looking to employ an experienced Working Foreman to join our expanding Groundworks team.
About Us:
B&K Hume Groundworks Ltd is a well established family run groundwork's business based in Greenlaw, Scottish Borders. We provide groundwork's services to a variety of areas including the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, Lothians, Northumberland and surrounding areas.
The Role:
As a Working Foreman, you will lead by example, managing site teams and ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will be hands-on, working alongside operatives & plant while coordinating with site management to ensure project targets are met.
The ideal candidate will be hands on and willing to get stuck in and have experience in leading a squad of General Operatives & Plant Operators to deliver a wide range of civils projects. Being able to work unsupervised is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead groundworks operatives on site
- Interpret drawings and specifications to plan daily tasks
- Maintain site safety, quality, and productivity standards
- Liaise with site managers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Report on progress and identify issues or delays
- Carry out hands-on work where required
- Conduct daily briefings and ensure proper toolbox talks are held
Requirements:
- Proven experience in groundworks, with at least 2 years in a foreman or supervisory role
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification (essential)
- CSCS card (essential)
- First at Work Aid certification (preferred)
- CPCS / NPORS Card (preferred)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Full UK driving license

Rate of pay negotiable - depending on experience
