Drive is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality financial services and wants to contribute to an organisation that supports people to live independent and fulfilling lives.
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the Head of Finance and Payroll, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of an effective and professional finance function. You will assist with budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, external audit requirements, and financial planning, helping to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability and continued success.
About the Role
As Assistant Accountant, you will:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and quarterly forecasts.
- Assist with the annual budget-setting process and financial planning activities.
- Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Provide budget holders with detailed financial information and analysis.
- Support the preparation of year-end accounts, service charge accounts, and external audit requirements.
- Assist with tender costings and financial analysis for new business opportunities.
- Contribute to fundraising reporting and monitoring income and expenditure performance.
- Help maintain compliance with financial regulations, legislation, and organisational policies.
- Liaise with auditors, banks, local authorities, and other external stakeholders.
- Support the management of finances for people supported by Drive, ensuring a person-centred approach at all times.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working within a finance or accounting environment.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience producing financial reports and analysing financial information.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- AAT qualification or working towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent.
- Experience assisting with management accounts and budgeting processes.
- Understanding of charity, social care, housing, or not-for-profit financial environments.
