Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yard Operative / Forklift Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing materials, operating forklift trucks safely, and supporting warehouse operations. This role requires a proactive individual with mechanical knowledge and the ability to handle heavy lifting tasks efficiently. Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move materials within the yard and warehouse.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and handling of goods.
- Manage materials handling using warehouse management systems to track inventory movements.
- Conduct basic equipment repairs and maintenance checks on forklift trucks and other machinery.
- Support warehouse organisation by stacking, storing, and retrieving items as needed.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of lorries, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to optimise warehouse operations and improve workflow processes.
Requirements
- Valid forklift licence with proven experience in operating forklift trucks in a busy warehouse setting.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and tracking.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
- Strong materials handling skills, including heavy lifting and safe manual handling techniques.
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred, especially in shipping & receiving environments.
- Basic maths skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure safety compliance and operational efficiency.
Pay: £24,420.00-£32,000.00 per year
