Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Paint Inspector to join our team in. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the quality and durability of our steel structures through meticulous inspection and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation Verification:
Inspect and approve surfaces prior to painting, ensuring proper cleaning, abrasive blasting, and surface profile are achieved
- Environmental & Equipment Monitoring:
Verify that temperature, humidity, and dew point are within acceptable ranges. Conduct blotter tests for oil and water in compressed air lines
- Coating Application Inspection:
Monitor paint mixing, thinning, and application methods (spray, brush, or roller) to ensure compliance with project specifications
Perform quality checks including wet/dry film thickness, adhesion, and holiday/pinhole testing
- Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed inspection logs, manage photographic documentation, and generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for any defects
Qualifications
- Proven experience in paint inspection or quality assurance within the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Deep understanding of coating systems, corrosion control, technical drawings, and industry standards (e.g., SSPC, ASTM,ISO)
- Ability to properly calibrate and operate inspection tools such as surface profile gauges, Psychrometers, and Pfund gauges
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Relevant certifications in paint inspection or quality assurance are preferred.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to industrial painting processes.
- Typically requires 3-5+ years in a quality assurance/coating inspection role, particularly in heavy industries
