Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Domestic Assistant to work in our newly opened nursing home in Wotton Under Edge.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out all cleaning duties in accordance with worksheet instructions including:
- Vacuuming, and washing floor areas such as corridors, bedrooms, lounges, stairs and lifts.
- Cleaning of residents & communal bathrooms to include toilets, baths and washbasins, providing adequate supplies of toilet rolls, soap and hand towels.
- Polishing and dusting of all furniture and fittings
- Cleaning internal windows, paintwork and walls
- Deep cleaning of rooms ready for occupation
- Removal of rubbish to storage area ready for collection.
- Understand the cleaning requirements of different surfaces and coverings and the properties of cleaning materials to ensure that all areas are well presented and maintained in good condition
- Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particularly moving and handling of loads, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff.
- Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health & Safety at Work Acts and fire safety and evacuation procedures and demonstrates a working knowledge of COSHH assessments applicable in to own work area.
- Act accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
- Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and action all reasonable work instructions promptly.
- Take reasonable care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on any faults and the need for maintenance or replacement.
- Take responsibility for the ordering and rotation of all cleaning supplies to ensure we do not run out of stock.
- Responsible for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment.
- Attend staff meetings and complete full mandatory training sessions as required.
- Adhere to Home Policies and Procedures.
Experience
- Experience in a care/nursing home or hospital cleaning is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Good communication skills with a friendly and professional attitude

Full time or part time hours available. (To include ever other weekend)
30 minute unpaid break.
