About Trusted Tutors
Trusted Tutors delivers commissioned Alternative Provision for local authorities, schools and families. We support children and young people who may be unable to access mainstream education because of SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance, medical needs, exclusion or disrupted education.
About the role
- Deliver in-person, one-to-one tuition in learners' homes, schools or suitable community venues across Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.
- Support primary-aged learners with literacy, numeracy, phonics, reading and wider learning needs.
- Plan personalised sessions around each learner's starting point, strengths, SEND profile and agreed outcomes.
- Build trusting professional relationships that improve confidence, engagement and independence.
- Complete timely lesson reports, attendance records and safeguarding notifications in line with Trusted Tutors procedures.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools and the Trusted Tutors team.
Who we are looking for
- Experience teaching or tutoring primary-aged children, ideally including learners with SEND or interrupted education.
- Strong knowledge of primary literacy and numeracy; experience of phonics and reading intervention is highly desirable.
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE or another relevant teaching qualification is desirable, although experienced graduates and specialist tutors will also be considered.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach, with excellent communication and professional boundaries.
- The ability to adapt teaching, reduce barriers to learning and respond sensitively to individual needs.
- Willingness and ability to travel reliably throughout Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.
- Commitment to safeguarding, accurate record keeping and ongoing professional development.
Safer recruitment requirements
Appointment is subject to Trusted Tutors' safer recruitment process, including identity and Right to Work checks, an Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List check where applicable, qualification verification, employment history checks, professional references and any other statutory checks required for the role.

Working pattern
Provision is mainly delivered during weekday school hours, although some after-school or weekend work may be available. Hours depend on commissioned referrals and cannot be guaranteed. Applicants should clearly state their availability and travel radius.
