This is not a standard optical assistant job.
We're a family opticians on Park Road, and we already have two fantastic optical assistants — we're growing the team to improve patient care and rota resilience.
We run differently to most. Our admin is handled by in-house AI tools, so your time goes on patients, not paperwork. You'll learn to glaze lenses in our own lab — a real technical skill most optical assistants never get taught. We're also active on social media, and being happy to appear in it is a plus.
What your week looks like:
- Helping patients choose eyewear that suits their life and their prescription
- Dispensing, adjustments, repairs and collections
- Learning to glaze lenses in-house (full training given)
- Helping create our social media content (appearing in it is welcome, not essential)
- Working alongside the AI tools that handle our admin
- Occasional days covering our Speke practice
- Saturdays are part of the rota
You'll fit here if you:
- Enjoy learning a wide range of things — this role is broad on purpose
- Are confident and warm with people
- Take pride in detail (glazing punishes carelessness)
- Can work Saturdays and travel occasionally to Speke
Optical experience helps but isn't essential — willingness to learn everything is.
What you get: £12.71–£14.00/hr, employee discount, real technical training, two brilliant colleagues to learn alongside, and a job where no two days repeat.
We hire slowly and deliberately, taking the time to find the right fit for both sides.
