We're looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and reliable Barista & Café Assistant to join our growing team.
This is a varied role where you'll be making coffee, serving customers and preparing simple breakfast dishes. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a busy independent speciality coffee shop.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and serving coffee and other hot & cold drinks.
- Preparing simple breakfast items such as breakfast burgers, scrambled eggs, toast and similar dishes.
- Delivering excellent customer service.
- Taking customer orders and operating the till.
- Keeping the café, coffee station and kitchen clean and organised.
- Restocking products and helping with opening and closing duties.
- Working closely with the team during busy periods.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience as a barista is preferred.
- Confident making all the classic espresso-based coffees (Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, Americano, etc.).
- Food Hygiene Certificate is a big advantage.
- A genuine interest in speciality coffee and a willingness to learn about artisan coffee, brewing methods and coffees from around the world.
- Friendly, energetic and approachable with excellent customer service skills.
- Enjoys talking to customers and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Positive attitude with a strong team-player mentality.
- Reliable, punctual and well presented.
- Able to stay calm and organised during busy service.
- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Willing to work both behind the coffee machine and in the kitchen.
- Previous café or hospitality experience is an advantage but not essential for the right candidate.
Hours
- Regular 5 days per week.
- Minimum 15 hours per week, with additional hours available depending on business levels.
- Weekend availability is preferred, as weekends are our busiest trading days.
