The Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce has called for radical reform of the UK's nuclear regulatory framework to enable timely and cost-effective nuclear investment and delivery. At NRS we recognise that means capitalising on our move towards proportionate, risk-informed approaches that unlock more effective outcomes to help our people deliver our mission. We are now looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to take a pivotal role in shaping and helping to deliver our Regulatory Reform Project.
What will you be doing?
This is a rare opportunity to influence change at a national level, helping to shape the future of nuclear regulation in the UK. Working at the heart of a high-profile transformation programme, you will lead the delivery of complex projects that drive meaningful reform, ensuring innovative ideas are translated into practical outcomes that support our mission and deliver lasting impact.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Regulatory Reform, you will provide leadership across project planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery. You will work with senior leaders, technical specialists and key partners to manage risk, drive performance, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, sometimes making decisions that may impact the organisation, its people, budgets, policies, procedures and strategic programmes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead mobilisation and delivery of the Regulatory Reform programme as an integrated multi-workstream initiative.
- Develop and maintain robust programme delivery frameworks, project controls, managing risks, issues, dependencies, change, and assurance activities.
- Inspire, mentor, and lead multidisciplinary teams, creating a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally, providing clear communication and influencing at all levels.
- Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, compliance, and performance reporting to ensure effective and sustainable delivery.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an accomplished project professional with a proven track record of delivering complex projects in highly regulated environments. You'll be a confident leader, an excellent communicator and someone who thrives on driving change, building relationships, and delivering results in challenging and evolving settings.
Essential skills and experience:
- Significant experience delivering projects within a complex, highly regulated industry.
- Degree-level qualification (NQF Level 6 / SCQF 9/10 or equivalent) in a relevant subject and recognised project management certification such as APM Registered Project Professional.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to maintaining industry best practice.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical writing skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to develop positive, collaborative, and productive working relationships.
Desirable:
Experience working with NEC contracts, CDM 2015 practices and project delivery frameworks within construction or infrastructure environments would be advantageous. We would also welcome applicants with a CITB Construction Site Manager's Safety Certificate, experience leading multidisciplinary teams through full project lifecycles and a strong understanding of delivering safe, high-quality outcomes while optimising costs. The ability to make sound decisions under pressure and apply project management principles in a socially responsible and sustainable way would be highly valued.
