At ProAmpac Lincoln, we are a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging operating a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment. Producing high-quality packaging solutions for a diverse customer base, our success is built on strong operational performance, effective planning and close collaboration across departments.
We are seeking a Production Planner to play a central role in coordinating production activity across our Printing, Slitting and Bag Conversion operations. Acting as a key link between Customer Service, Materials Control, Warehouse and Manufacturing teams, you will ensure production plans accurately reflect customer demand, material availability and manufacturing capacity, helping to maximise efficiency, minimise downtime and achieve customer delivery commitments.
The role
As a Production Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising production schedules across multiple manufacturing departments. This is a highly operational role where you will work closely with production leaders and support functions to ensure manufacturing resources are utilised effectively, bottlenecks are managed proactively and customer requirements are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
Success in this position requires strong planning capability, excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate activity across multiple departments within a busy manufacturing environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules across Printing, Slitting and Bag Conversion to support customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Materials Control and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth and efficient workflow throughout the manufacturing process.
- Balance customer demand, labour resources, machine capacity and material availability to optimise production performance.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to respond effectively to operational challenges, machine downtime, material shortages and changing customer priorities.
- Analyse capacity, production output, inventory and planning data to support informed operational decision-making.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP planning information and generate reports to monitor manufacturing performance and service levels.
- Support OTIF, productivity and efficiency targets through effective planning and scheduling practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve production flow, reduce waste, minimise downtime and enhance overall operational performance.
- Participate in daily operational reviews and collaborate with department leaders to resolve issues that may impact production schedules.
What do we want from you?
- Previous experience within production planning, manufacturing scheduling, operations planning or supply chain environments.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production processes and capacity planning, ideally within flexible packaging, printing, converting or a similar production setting.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage production schedules and material requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret operational data.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across production and support departments.
- A proactive and hands-on approach to resolving operational challenges and maintaining production continuity.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in planning and scheduling activities.
- Customer-focused mindset with an understanding of how production planning impacts service, efficiency and operational performance.
- Passion for continuous improvement and driving manufacturing excellence.
