Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Narrow Weaving & Warping Technician to join our new manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setting up, operating, monitoring and maintaining warping and narrow weaving machinery to produce fabrics to specification, working to the standards, patterns and priorities set by the Supervisor.
Warping
- Prepare yarns for production: creeling, threading, tensioning and alignment.
- Build warps to the issued specification sheet, colour sequence and required ends.
- Operate sectional and beam warping machines.
- Inspect yarn quality, identify defects (slubs, knots, breaks)
- Work to specified warp lengths, tension profiles and beam build quality.
Narrow Weaving
- Set up and operate narrow weaving looms (needle, shuttle, narrow jacquard).
- Monitor loom performance and fabric quality continuously through the run.
- Diagnose and resolve routine faults — broken ends, mispicks, tension variation, stoppages.
- Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and minor mechanical adjustment within the scope of the role.
- Complete pattern, width and construction changeovers accurately and within target time.
- Escalate faults outside the scope of the role to the Supervisor or Engineering rather than attempting repair.
Quality & Records
- Inspect fabric for width accuracy, pattern consistency, strength and appearance against the specification.
- Present first-off work for approval before running production.
- Work to technical specifications, SOPs and safety standards without deviation; raise queries rather than assume.
Experience & Requirements
- Previous experience in weaving, warping or textile manufacturing; narrow fabrics preferred.
- Able to lift beams, handle yarn packages and remain on feet for extended periods.
- Basic maintenance skills and confidence working around moving machinery.
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes.
Training
- Full on-the-job training in warping and narrow weaving operations.
- Cross-training across related processes (finishing, inspection).
- Refresher training on machine safety, quality control and maintenance.
- Manufacturer training on new loom models where available.
