The Opportunity

Tutortastic holds an exceptional partnership with a premier school in the SW5 area of South West London. Due to the expansion of our popular in-school programmes, we are recruiting two outstanding teaching assistants to help support teachers with their classes.
The Role
You will support engaging, high-impact, hands-on group tuition to classes of 15–20 motivated students, preparing them conceptually and strategically for the competitive South West London entry landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support: Support the course teachers in delivering an established programme covering Verbal Reasoning (VR), Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR), English and Mathematics.
Pupil Assistance: Work with individuals and small groups, helping pupils understand tasks, remain focused and develop confidence across a range of academic activities.
Differentiation: Provide additional support for pupils who require further explanation, reassurance or challenge, including children with SEN or differing learning needs.
Resources and Organisation: Help prepare, distribute and collect teaching materials, maintain an organised classroom environment and support smooth transitions between activities.
Progress Support: Observe pupil participation and understanding, sharing relevant feedback with the course teachers to help monitor progress.
Safeguarding and Logistics: Support the safe registration and dismissal of children, assist with movement around the school and help maintain a positive, calm and supportive learning environment.
Commitment: Fully commit to the 30-session Tuesday evening schedule, comprising 10 sessions per term, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
Requirements and Essential Criteria
Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role with primary-aged children.
Classroom Confidence: Able to support and engage groups of children aged approximately 7–11 within a busy classroom environment.
Academic Confidence: Secure basic knowledge of primary English and Mathematics, with the confidence to support pupils completing verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and problem-solving activities.
Empathy and Adaptation: Patient, encouraging and able to adapt support for children with a range of abilities, including high-attaining pupils and those with SEN requirements.
Behaviour Support: Able to reinforce expectations positively and support teachers with maintaining focus, participation and appropriate behaviour.
Safeguarding: A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the importance of professional boundaries, confidentiality and pupil wellbeing.
Reliability: Highly dependable, punctual and able to commit to the full academic-year schedule.
Availability: Able to attend a brief online Zoom training session on Thursday 27th August 11:30am
