We’re looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic / Technician to join our team at F.M. Caine & Sons in Knighton.
This is an in-house workshop role looking after our own fleet of HGVs, trailers and specialist collection vehicles. There are no dealership targets or customer jobs to chase – the focus is simply on keeping our own vehicles safe, compliant and on the road.
We’ve been supporting the agricultural community since 1919 and we’re a fairly down-to-earth team. We’re looking for someone dependable, practical and happy to get stuck in.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out routine PMI inspections
- Preparing vehicles and trailers for MOT
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
- Preventative maintenance to help reduce breakdowns and downtime
- Working on HGVs, trailers and specialist collection vehicles
- Hydraulic and PTO-related repairs and maintenance
- Keeping maintenance records accurate and up to date
- Working with our Transport team to plan inspections and repairs
- Keeping the workshop safe, tidy and organised
We use R2C for our fleet maintenance records. Experience with R2C would be useful, but it isn’t essential.
Who we’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll have previous experience working on HGVs or commercial vehicles.
We would also be happy to hear from experienced agricultural mechanics, plant fitters, bus or coach technicians, commercial vehicle mechanics or ex-forces vehicle mechanics with transferable skills.
You don’t need to tick every box. If you’ve got good mechanical knowledge, can work independently and take pride in doing a job properly, we’d like to hear from you.
Pay and hours
- £19.00–£22.00 per hour, depending on experience and knowledge
- 45-hour working week
- Equivalent to approximately £44,460–£51,480 basic per year
- Overtime available and paid at 1.25x your normal hourly rate
- Full-time or part-time considered
